How to print a return label with Meta Muse
Returning something usually means three chores: find the returns address, pay for a label, and find a printer to print it on. Muse can find the address and write the email, but it cannot buy postage on its own.
No Errands Ship buys the label. You tell Muse what you are sending back and where it goes, Muse shows you the price, and on your yes you get a USPS QR code: show it on your phone at any post office counter and they print the label for you. No printer needed. A PDF label comes too, if you would rather print it.
What you need
- A Muse account.
- The merchant's returns address, from their return instructions or the return page of the order. Many merchants give you a label of their own; use that one when they do, because it is free.
- The package's weight, and its size if it is a box.
Step 1: Get a key

Step 3: Paste your key into the Secure Credentials Store
When Muse asks for the key it opens its Secure Credentials Store. Paste the key in there, never into the chat.
Muse's agent never sees the real key. It works with a stand-in token and the real value is swapped in at the network edge, so a web page cannot talk Muse into leaking it.
Step 4: Ask Muse for the return label
For example:
Make me a return label for my shoe return. It goes to the returns address in the email from the store, the box weighs 2 pounds, QR code please.
Muse gets the prices first, which is free. Before it buys anything it must show you:
- the carrier and the service, for example USPS Ground Advantage;
- the delivery days;
- the price, and the post office counter price when the carrier gives one.
Then it waits. Nothing is bought until you say yes.
Use the real weight. If the carrier weighs the box and it is heavier than the label says, the carrier can charge the difference afterwards. A kitchen scale or a bathroom scale is fine.
Step 5: Drop it off or book a pickup
- QR code: show it at any USPS counter. The clerk scans it and prints the label. Stick it on the box and hand it over.
- PDF: print it and tape it on. Drop the box at a post office or in a collection box if it fits.
- Pickup: ask Muse to book a USPS pickup from your door. It is free:

A label costs what the carrier charges us, times 1.42, rounded up to the cent, plus $1.50. Every quote shows the exact price, so you never have to work it out. Here is how some common packages compare with the post office counter:

Small packages cost more than the counter. What you are paying for is the errand: no trip, no line, no printer, and a pickup from the door if you want one.
Labels are paid from ordinary credit, bought as $2.49 for a single letter, or $10.00 for $12.50 of credit (one free letter), $25.00 for $32.50 of credit (three free letters) and $50.00 for $67.50 of credit (seven free letters). Every pack credits more than it costs. Add credits.
Things to know before you rely on it
- Changed your mind? Ask Muse to void the label before it is scanned. A void is a refund request: the credits come back when the carrier confirms, which takes about two weeks for USPS. USPS accepts voids within 30 days.
- A quote lasts 60 minutes. After that Muse gets a fresh one.
- There is no insurance in this version. Do not send anything you cannot afford to lose.
- Some things cannot be shipped at all, such as loose lithium batteries, aerosols and anything flammable. See the shipping terms.
- United States addresses only, at both ends.
Questions people ask
What does a return label cost with Meta Muse?
The carrier's rate times 1.42, rounded up to the cent, plus $1.50. A small USPS Ground Advantage package is about $11.35. Muse shows you the exact price before it buys, and getting prices is free.
Do I need a printer?
No. A USPS return label comes with a QR code by default. Show it on your phone at any USPS counter and they print the label for you. A PDF is there too if you would rather print it yourself.
Is it cheaper than the post office?
Not always. Small packages cost more than the counter price, up to about a third more. Heavier ones come close to it, and some cost less. What you pay for is skipping the trip, the line and the printer. Muse shows the counter price next to ours when the carrier gives one.
Can Muse buy a label without checking with me?
No. Muse must get the prices first, show you the carrier, the service, the delivery days and the price, and get your explicit yes. The purchase only works with the quote you approved.
For a hard guarantee, ask for a read-only key on the key page. Muse can then get prices and track packages but the server refuses any purchase.
What if I change my mind after buying?
Ask Muse to void the label before it is scanned. A void is a refund request: the credits come back when the carrier confirms, which takes about two weeks for USPS.
Where does Muse get the returns address?
From you, or from the merchant's own return instructions. Muse is not allowed to guess an address.
Who sees my address?
