How to book a restaurant table with Meta Muse
Most restaurants still take reservations by telephone. There is no API, no booking widget, often no email anyone reads. So Muse cannot book them. Ask it for dinner and it quietly offers the places it can book instead.
No Errands Tables closes that gap the only way it can be closed: somebody calls the restaurant. You tell Muse where you want to eat, Muse hands us the restaurant and the request, and an automated call asks the host, who presses 1 or 2. You get a real answer, usually within minutes.
$1.00 a table, and only when the restaurant says yes. A decline, a no-answer, or a request you change your mind about costs nothing.
What you need
- A Muse account.
- The restaurant you want. A name and a city is enough; Muse finds the number.
- The party size, the date and time, and a first name for the table.
Step 1: Get a key
Go to https://noerrands.com/get-key, enter your email, and leave the choice on read and write so Muse is allowed to send the request. One key covers tables, mail, fax and bookings. The key is shown once, so keep the tab open until step 3.

goes to. Then wait for my explicit approval. Never act without asking me

Muse reads our connector briefs, writes its own client, tests it, and saves it as a reusable skill. Approve network access to our domain when Muse asks. You will see a caution notice because Meta does not review custom connectors.
Step 3: Paste your key into the Secure Credentials Store
When Muse asks for the key it opens its Secure Credentials Store. Paste the key in there, never into the chat.
Muse's agent never sees the real key. It works with a stand-in token and the real value is swapped in at the network edge, so a web page cannot talk Muse into leaking it.
Step 4: Ask Muse for the table
For example:
Get me a table for four at The Blue Plate in Joplin on Friday at 7pm, under Rob.
Muse finds the restaurant's phone number itself. Before anything happens it must read back to you:
- the restaurant and the number it found;
- the party size;
- the date and time, in your own words;
- the name the table goes under;
- that a confirmed table costs $1.00.
Then it waits. Nobody is telephoned until you say yes, because the thing on the other end is a real restaurant in the middle of a service.
You can add a note, and it is read out word for word:

Keep notes to things the host needs. Anything longer than about two hundred characters will not fit.
Step 5: Wait for the restaurant to answer
We call the restaurant. An automated voice reads out the request and offers a keypad menu: 1 to confirm, 2 to decline, 9 never to be contacted again. A restaurant that has asked us for texts gets a text instead and replies Y or N.
Then ask Muse:
Has the restaurant confirmed?
Muse reads the status back:
- confirmed -- a person at that restaurant said yes. The credits are taken at this moment and not before.
- declined -- they said no. Nothing charged. Ask Muse to try elsewhere.
- no_answer -- nobody answered before the request expired. Nothing charged.
- cancelled -- you called it off. Nothing charged.
Muse is not allowed to tell you the table is booked before the status says
confirmed. If it does, it is guessing.
To call it off before they answer:
Cancel the table request at The Blue Plate.
That is free. If we had texted the restaurant we send a one-line courtesy text; if we called, we leave them alone rather than ringing again to undo the first call.

You are charged at the moment the restaurant confirms, and at no other moment. There is no estimate to call, because there is only one price.
If you ask for tables often, a table pass is much cheaper per table than ordinary credit. It is credit that can only buy a confirmed table. Like every pack on the site, it credits more than it costs:

Ordinary credit pays for a table too, so nothing you already bought is stranded. Add credits.
Things to know before you rely on it
- The restaurant answers in its own time. Most answer in minutes. Some answer when the lunch rush ends.
- A request expires an hour before the table, or two hours after you made it, whichever comes first. Ask early in the day rather than at 6:45 for a seven o'clock table.
- There is no second attempt. A restaurant that did not answer is not called again, because calling a restaurant twice about one table is how you get a number blocked.
- A confirmed table can still go wrong. A host wrote it down. Restaurants overbook and lose notes, exactly as they do when you phone yourself.
- To change a confirmed table, phone the restaurant. We cannot edit something in somebody else's book.
Questions people ask
What does it cost to book a restaurant table with Meta Muse?
$1.00, and only if the restaurant says yes. A decline, a no-answer or a request you cancel costs nothing at all.
Is my table actually booked?
Only when the status says confirmed, which means a person at the restaurant
pressed 1 on our call or replied Y to our text. Muse is not allowed to tell you
it is booked before that.
Which restaurants can I ask?
Any restaurant in the United States with a phone number, unless that number has asked us never to contact it. The restaurant does not have to have signed up with us first, which is the whole point: the restaurants worth this product are the ones with no booking system at all.
What does the restaurant actually hear?
An automated voice saying who is asking, the party size, the date and time and the first name, then a keypad menu: 1 to confirm, 2 to decline, 9 never to be contacted again. No marketing, no upsell, one call per request.
Can Muse ask for a table without checking with me?
No. Muse must read back the restaurant, the party size, the date and time and the name, and get your explicit yes, because a real business is about to be telephoned.
For a hard guarantee, ask for a read-only key on the key page. Muse can then read your past requests but the server refuses any attempt to send a new one.
What if nobody answers?
The request expires, usually within two hours, and becomes a no-answer. Nothing is charged and there is no second attempt. Muse can try another restaurant.
What does the restaurant find out about me?
The party size, the time, the first name you gave, any note, and your phone number only if you chose to give one. Not your email, not your full name, and nothing else. Full detail on the tables privacy page.
Can I ask for a table outside the US?
Not yet. United States restaurants only.
