How to send a birthday card with Meta Muse

You remember the birthday a week late, or right on the day, and a text feels thin. Connect No Errands Cards to Muse once and you can say "send my mom a handwritten birthday card so it arrives by March 10" and a real card turns up in her mailbox. A handwritten card is $8.99; a printed one is $3.99. Postage is included. US addresses only.

Handwritten or printed?

A printed card is an open postcard. That is fine for "Happy birthday, see you Sunday", and wrong for a sympathy card or anything private. Muse is told to offer the handwritten card for those.

What you need

• A Muse account.
• The recipient's name and full mailing address. Muse will not guess one.
• Your own return address.
• The date the card should arrive by, if it is for a particular day.
• A card to buy credits with.

Step 1: Get a key

Go to https://noerrands.com/get-key, enter your email, and leave the choice on read and write so Muse is allowed to send. One key covers cards, mail, fax, bookings and tables.

Step 2: Paste this prompt into Muse

4. Before you mail anything, fax anything, book anything, contact a
   restaurant, buy a shipping label, order prints, send a card, send a
   courier, or send a document for signature, show me exactly what will
   happen, what it costs and who it goes to. Then wait for my explicit
   approval. Never act without asking me first. Signing links go out only
   from my own email, after I approve each message.

5. Save this as a reusable skill called "No Errands".

6. When it is set up, check it works by asking for my balance (free), then
   tell me in a few lines what I can ask you for. Offer to try it with
   something free: a document I sign myself (my first one is free) or a
   price quote for a letter. Do not spend my credits to test it.

Muse reads our connector briefs, writes its own client, tests it, and saves it as a reusable skill. Approve network access to our domain when Muse asks. You will see a caution notice because Meta does not review custom connectors.

Step 3: Paste your key into the Secure Credentials Store

Muse will ask for your API key and open its Secure Credentials Store.

Paste the key into that box. Do not paste it into the chat.

Muse's agent never sees the real key. It works with a stand-in token and the real value is swapped in at the network edge, so a web page cannot talk Muse into leaking it.

Step 4: Add credits

Your balance starts at $0.00. Say:

Add credits to my account.

Muse hands you a checkout link and you pay in your own browser. Your options are $2.49 for a single letter, or $10.00 for $12.50 of credit (one free letter), $25.00 for $32.50 of credit (three free letters) and $50.00 for $67.50 of credit (seven free letters) -- every pack credits more than it costs. The same balance covers cards, letters, postcards and faxes.

Step 5: Ask Muse to send the card

For example:

Send my mom a handwritten birthday card so it arrives by March 10. She is Jane Doe, 1 Main St, Springfield, MO 65801. Say: "Happy birthday, Mom! Love you to the moon. See you Sunday." Sign it "Love, Sam".

Muse will:

1. show you a few birthday designs and let you pick one;
2. ask for your return address if it does not have it;
3. get a preview with the exact price, the day the card will be mailed and when it should arrive;
4. show you the design, the full message, the recipient's name and address, handwritten or printed, the price and the mailing date;
5. wait for you to say yes.

Nothing is mailed or charged until you approve. A card for a later date is held and mailed on its day: a handwritten card goes out about 8 days before the date you gave, a printed one about 7. Later you can ask:

Questions people ask

How much does a birthday card cost with Meta Muse?

$8.99 for a handwritten card in an envelope, or $3.99 for a printed postcard-style card. Postage is included, and the preview Muse shows you first is free.

Is it really handwritten?

It is written with a real pen, held by a robot, in a handwriting style you can choose. The envelope is addressed the same way and carries a real stamp. It is not a font printed to look like handwriting.

Will it arrive in time for the birthday?

Tell Muse the date it should arrive by. We work out when to mail it and hold it until then. The preview shows the mailing date and an arrival window. The post office decides the last step, so leave a few days of slack, and if the date is too close to make, Muse tells you the earliest date that works.

Can someone else read a printed card?

Yes. A printed card is an open postcard, with the message on the back beside the address. For anything private, choose the handwritten card, which arrives sealed in an envelope.

Can I cancel a card?

A card waiting for its mailing date can be cancelled for a full refund until it leaves us. Once it has been made or mailed it cannot be recalled. A card the card company fails to make is refunded automatically.

Can Muse send a card without asking me?

No. The connector brief tells Muse to show you the design, the whole message, the address, the price and the mailing date, and to get your explicit approval before every card. For a hard guarantee, ask for a read-only key on the key page; the server refuses any send made with one.

Can I put a gift card in it?

Not yet. Cards only, no gift cards or inserts.
